FACILITIES

Central Library

Our college is facilitated with central library which is available to the students and the professors. It has a collection of various disciplinary books, journals,magazines,newspapers and other general books. It has around 37000 books for the benefit of students. As per the rules and regulation of our library , two books are issued for an library card. Resource development is another area of focus. The Arignar Anna Govt Arts College Library has a vast collection of books and journals, to cater to the growing needs of the student community. Recently, resources are added to help students prepare for competitive exams like Civil Services, UGC NET and so on; a separate collection of relevant books has been added to the library.
The library forms an important support system for all academic programmes and related research activities of the College community. With extensive holdings of resource materials the library fully supports all instructional and research programmes of the College. The College library, well maintained and containing a vast resource of material for the College community is strength of the institution.

Library Procedures and Policies

  • All records pertaining to Library services and stocks are maintained.
  • The proper account of visitors on daily basis is maintained.
  • Every academic year one �Library Representative� and one �Library Assistant Representative� are selected from each class.
  • Annual Library stock verification/checking are done.
  • Subject wise/Department wise books are arranged in separate cupboards.
  • To ensure proper return of books, no due from the library is mandatory for the students before appearing for the university exam.
  • Fine system is implemented for missing/overdue books.

Laboratories

All the science department has well equipped laboratories for their practical subject knowledge.We have UG and PG laboratories respectively for each department.

Procedures and Policies

  • The grants are allocated by the state government for the maintenance of laboratories.
    • The lab fee is collected from the students of science departments during admission for laboratory usage.
    • The cleanliness of the laboratories is done with the support of sweepers appointed by the college
    • The stock register is maintained and supervised by the HODs of the concerned departments.
    • The lab assistants/store keeper under the supervision of the HODs, maintain the efficiency of lab accessories.
    • Every year equipment requirements of various departments are submitted to the Directorate of Collegiate Education through the office by the respective departments head and they are collectively processed in order to keep things ready for the upcoming semester.
    • The non-teaching staff is also trained in maintenance of lab equipment and computers.
    • Internal annual stock checking is done at the end of every academic year by the deputed staff members of the same department and from other departments.
    • The breakage amount is collected from the students and the same is also used for equipment maintenance.

    Hostel facilities

    The main hostel was established in the year for the accomadation of outstation students to continue with their studies without feeling homesick. It provides accomodation to 300 students with sixty rooms. The new hostel for PG students was constructed recently.The hostel has spacious dining hall, library, sick room and other required facility for the students. The college hostel mess is given for contract and food is provided to the students at cheaper rate.

    Apart from this, the students are getting accomodation by the Government BC and SC hostels.

    Canteen

    The Canteen is available within the college campus.

    Cooperative Stores

    The stationary items, books, notes and other required items are sold to the students by this cooperative store.

    General Procedure and Policies

    • The technicians, plumbers, carpenters are deputed by the PWD to ensure the maintenance of infrastructure facilities.
    • The campus cleaning is maintained and monitored by the cleaning committee.
    • The civil work and electrical work are carried out by PWD and monitored by the deputed staff members
    • Students are sensitized regarding cleanliness and motivated to conserve energy by needful use of electricity in classrooms.
